The purposed changes the new Florida's State (don’t' call it common core) Standards are in and it is common core with the grammar fixed.

I listened to the proposed changes to the new Florida state standards on the conferences call at 10:30 AM. There will be another conference call at 2:00 PM today. As expected this is common core with the changes being clarifications. The changes were improvements to be sure, the original common core standards needed a lot of improvements. What do you expect from people like Dave Coleman and Jason Zimba who had no experience writing standards? However all the standards were superficial with the exception that they are adding pre-calc back in for non-honors students.

None of the substantive issues brought up in the ELA Standards by Sandra Stotsky and in the math standards by Ze'ev Wurman wwwere addressed. I know that they were submitted because I pasted them in myself and some of the obvious blunders were fixed.
There were very few commenters’ after the presentation and the question about the 15 % lee way on the copyrighted common core seemed not to be an issue to Commissioner Stewart, whom I assumed was the speaker. She said these are Florida's standards even if they are word for word the same as common core before the changes and essentially common core after the changes. No doubt, the Commissioner feels that she has some pull with one of the copyright holders the CCSSO, for which she is a member along with Tony Bennett, who she replaced. Moreover, Jeb Bush with his Bill Gates money will smooth things over with the other copyright owner the National Governors Association.

I was happy to se they fixed my original comment about the math standard MACC.2.MD.3.7 which originally said the "Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m."
