A common misconception is that times in The Great Depression, 80 years ago, were tough for everyone. They weren’t.

This is a very good article, Mike. And it's the way I was raised. I still hoard every scrap I consider useable, lol. Waste not, want not, indeed. 'Course there's only pathways in the basement...maybe I SHOULD get rid of some of that stuff!

I agree Marge. I thought it good also.
As far as getting rid of stuff?... I collect a lot but give a lot away also. It's kinda how the little community I live in works.

Lol! Not my community--they sell drugs, so it's the newest and the best of everything for them! I have often thought about living in a smaller community--almost bought a general store in Amish country years ago, but that didn't pan out. Still want to live in a smaller community, though...

I just thought of something, Mike--there were 5200 kids in my high school at the time I graduated. So how many of your "little communities" does this make?

Around that. Sometimes some old miners or trappers come in and hang around the fire for awhile. Should I count them or not. (smile)
