Fascinating Article: Excerpts:

"The delay is also holding back an industry who could really help an ailing economy. Let's consider...

1.) Oil, as a commodity, is most often based on an extended transformational infrastructure, globally priced, and primarily affected by world events, or sometimes just powered by biased speculators. Produced locally, natural gas is conversely guarded by a restricted infrastructure. We can keep costs low, profits high, and finally become energy independent.

2.) Jobs. Exporting Natural Gas will create a staggering 3.6 million jobs. From the drilling of new wells, to the building of infrastructure, it is estimated that for every billion spent, 18,000 jobs will be created. Cheniere will spend 11 billion to complete its project, Exxon at Golden Pass, a staggering 10 billion, and Dominion at Cove Point surely would approach those numbers. It is called the multiplier effect. We can make drilling profitable, and there is no need to destroy one infrastructure to develop another. We have both the time and enough product for clean and viable transitions. If something goes wrong, it is designed that way. Get my drift?

3.) What Boone Pickens said about Natural Gas exports rings true in the old school: "...we’d go down as the dumbest crowd that ever came to town if we send clean natural gas abroad, and import oil from OPEC.” And though that sounds right on the surface 30 years ago, let's look at the numbers today. In 2011 the US imported US$2.2 trillion worth of goods and of that 8.2% was crude oil. Just last month $37.8 billion dollars was sent overseas. We are the third largest exporter of goods at $1.5 trillion, and exporting gas won’t affect that number but a few percentiles. Flowing in that direction however, will bring in revenue, revenue and long-awaited jobs. We no longer need OPEC, or the wars to prop it all up. A strong military, yes, perpetual war for profit, no. Boon Pickens was right. Drill for oil and natural gas here"
